Arrow HTE Clutch Review - 04G e-Gear

Can hardly wait. I'll review the performance once installed.

Ok, so here is my clutch story synopsis:

My e-Gear G still had the original OEM clutch due to minimal miles but my calculations were that I was down to about 5% clutch life. To be frank I was not a fan of the OEM clutch and thought that for an exotic is should have been smoother; it was a bit 'clunky' and shuddered a little.

My thought was that if the OEM clutch is already not so great, do I want to risk an aftermarket clutch which could be worse??

I'm one of those people who likes to research matters because I hate to do things twice (and pay for the privilege!). So after searching L-Talk, reaching out to members and chatting with my mechanic Tommy @ P1 Motorcars, I opted for the HTE HT300. I was comfortable with the choice but a little part me was concerned with possible Kevlar clutchshudder and other idiosyncrasies. Also, 'Should I have gone with the supposedly safer option OEM F version?' was loitering in the back of my mind.

So, last Friday I picked up the car with the new HT300 clutch, flywheel, TOB, and sensor. I was preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

Well my hopes turned into reality and I can honestly say this clutch is amazing. Better, smoother engagement, no shudder, no 'clunkiness' and all with the peace-of-mind that it's going to last much longer than the OEM. I've already put 100 miles on the car and I'm super-impressed. I am not known for exaggerating, but when one of my Ferrari friends asked what I thought of the new clutch I couldn't help but exclaim "un-f***ing-believable".

Anyways, my special thanks to Sean at Hi Tech Exotic for making a top quality product and being available for any questions or concerns. And my thanks to Tommy & Dan at P1 Motorcars whose attention to detail and perfectionism make owning an exotic even more of a pleasure!

If anyone wants any additional details, feel free to PM me and I'll give you what I can.

We wanted to thank John for purchasing our Kevlar clutch for his 2006 Gallardo. His clutch was almost worn and he wanted to get a clutch that would last a long time. When we talked he told us that he will never sell his Gallardo and he will leave it to his kids and that's why he got the HT300 that will last up to 300% longer than a factory clutch. John also got a new throw out bearing and a new clutch position sensor because our Kevlar clutch would have outlasted the old throw out bearing. Since he has installed our clutch, he has driven it for a while and he likes the fact that it's as smooth as a factory F clutch. I will have him post his feedback.

We also wanted to thank our friends at Motorwerks Autogroup in Houston. They have been very professional and provided a great service. Travis at Motorwerks Autogroup provided some pictures of the installation.

I just had the Ht300, t/o bearing and clutch sensor replaced a month or so ago. I'm at 725 miles since then, and I'm super happy with it! Also, had an obd light come on and found the answer on this site in another forum. When I first was scouting Lambos early this year, I came across this site and this thread particularly. I wanted a Gallardo so bad, but the factory clutch failures really had me looking at other makes. Then I found this site, the kevlar clutch, and Sean at Hi-Tech. He has answered many many questions for me, and has been quite informative and helpful. The warranty, his knowledge and helpfulness have all let me enjoy my car to the fullest. Thank goodness, because I had pretty much decided I was going to look for something else until I found this stuff here!

Default Underground Racing Murcielago LP640 Twin Turbo gets Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch

We wanted to thank Tim at Underground Racing for choosing our Kevlar clutch for their customer with their Twin Turbo Murcielago LP640 kit. As you all know, Underground Racing makes one of the best TT kits in the world with amazing horsepower and with numerous records. To handle all this tremendous horsepower, they chose our HT300 Stage 2 that can handle more power.

We also wanted to thank Lamborghini Houston for installing our Lamborghini Murcielago clutch. It was a pleasure to do business with them. After installing our Kevlar clutch, they were pleasantly surprised how nice it drives for such a HiPerformance clutch. Lamborghini Houston will only install Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch and they won't install a Kevlarclutch from any other clutch companies. We were very glad that they were satisfied with our Kevlar clutch.

Here are some pictures of this beautiful beast.

Default Another Hi Tech Exotic Gallardo Kevlar clutch shipped to NC

We wanted to thank our friends at Top Automotive in North Carolina. Nick at Top Automotive wanted to get a clutch for their customer that would last longer than the factory clutch. After doing their research, they wanted a clutch that has a high quality Kevlar and has a proven long term track record. After reading this thread that has more than 30 pages of our happy customers with full of pictures of our customer's cars, he decided to get our Kevlar clutch.

http://www.lamborghini-talk.com/vbfo...tanding-17194/

Top Automotive also has the Lamborghini LARA computer so they can program the E-gear system with the new clutch. Nick is very knowledgeable and did a very good job adjusting the PIS. The installation of our clutch is exactly the same way as a factory clutch. It's plug and play and needs no modifications. Even the programming is the same as a factoryclutch. If you need a clutch installation in North Carolina, Top Automotive would be a great shop to go.

Here are some pictures of their customer's car and the clutch installation by them. I will post more pictures as I'll get more of them.

Sean, thank you very much for your Kevlar clutch!

I wanted to introduce myself; my name is Nick Kalashnik, mechanic and owner of Top Automotive, Inc. We specialize is Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley, ect. We are located in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

I want to express what a pleasure it was working with Sean at High Tech Exotic. Not only is he a down to earth individual, he is also very knowledgeable when it comes to exotic vehicles in need of high quality Kevlar clutches or Parts.

At Top Automotive we only install factory parts or better on all vehicles we Service and Repair in order to avoid compromising performance and reliability. This time around, one of our clients requested to install a clutch that would last much longer then the factory original clutch on his E-gear Lamborghini Gallardo without degrading the performance and shift response. After doing extensive research on many other companies that also make Kevlar clutches; we decided to proceed with the High Tech Exotic 300% Kevlar clutch due to their long term track record.

Installation of the Kevlar clutch is exactly the same as the factory install including the PIS set up. We are very impressed with the High Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch. After the brake in period of the clutch, the shift response is very positive and smooth. We highly recommend this clutch as an upgrade. In our opining, the High Tech Exotics Kevlarclutch feels much better than the Factory Lamborghini clutch.

We are extremely happy with High Tech Exotic products and customer service. Sean, thank you again!

John also has a Twin Turbo and has had both clutches so he knows what he's talking about. He can't believe how smooth our clutch is for such a hi performance clutch.

Henry has a beautiful collection of cars in his amazing garage. I think it's more like a beautiful park full of nice cars. Please take a look at it here.

New to Gallardo from Bangkok Thailand

Here are some more pictures of the progress of Henry's Twin Turbo project.

As always, our kevlar clutch is holding the massive horsepower without any issues.

That goes for both the clutch as well as the customer service. Sean is a real stand up guy, knows what he's talking about, and is there for any support after the sale which can be rare from my dealings with others since I entered the exotic world four five years ago. When you find someone like Sean to deal with it makes it easy to spread the word. The car goes through the gears without issue now and I know he's much happier now, I can feel it. So if you're searching for a new clutch give Sean a try I'm confident you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for your very nice words! It always makes us very happy when we see that our customers are very happy with our clutches. Lamborghini clutches are very complicated and E-gear makes its even more complicated. We work very hard to make great clutches that last longer and have a very nice engagement. We love it when we hear from our customers and how excited they are about our clutches. Enjoy your gallardo!

Hey guys this is me. I'm from Vancouver,BC I own MWDesign Technik and Wrap-Workz also Sevenfriday Canada

I've been a long time member on E46fanafics as BluE46

I picked up this balloon white LP640 roadster after looking for 2 years. The car was in spectacular condition and needed a new clutch. I did some research and came to find out about Hi Tech Exotic.

I called up Sean and he was very informative and great to deal with. The clutch engages quickly and the car drives great. I got the stage 3 Kevlar clutch for longest life

We wanted to thank Kurt for purchasing our Gallardo Kevlar clutch. His clutch was worn out and he wanted to get aclutch that would last longer. He wanted to sell his car so he wanted the new owner to have a very reliable clutch. After installing our Kevlar clutch, he was having second thoughts about selling his Gallardo because it drives and shifts so nicely. It has never driven this nicely before.

Our Kevlar clutch shifts 25-50% quicker than a factory clutch. It's like getting a TCU upgrade.

I will have him post his feedback at this thread and also here:

Here are some pictures of his beatifull Gallardo.

Sean is a great person. I have enjoyed all of our dealings.. He has always sent me exactly what I needed, and steered me in the right direction if I wasn't headed that way. Thanks for providing the best clutches on the market!!! Wouldn't buy one from any other source.

We wanted to thank Lamborghini Ohio (MAG) for installing our Kevlar clutch for our customer. Our customer was very happy with their service. You can call Wil at Lamborghini Ohio for our Kevlar clutch installation.

We also wanted to thank Mike for purchasing our Gallardo Kevlar clutch for his Twin Turbo Gallardo. He wanted to get aclutch that could handle his twin turbo power and last a long time. He also wanted a Hi Performance clutch that he can drive it as a daily driver. He wanted a clutch that's smooth and driveable. He was surprised how smooth this clutch is.

We will have him post his feedback and some pictures on this thread and also here:

Default Video of Clutch Installation of our Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar Murcielago clutch

I wanted to share this video that shows the installation of our Kevlar Lamborghini Murcielago clutch. As you can see, the installation is the same as a stock/oem clutch. No need for any modifications.

Default Lamborghini Troy installs Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar Murcielago clutch

We wanted to thank Lamborghini Troy in Michigan for installing our Lamborghini Murcielago clutch. Our customer was very happy with their service. You can call Matt at Lamborghini Troy for our Kevlar clutch installation.

We also wanted to thank Darin for purchasing our Murcielago Kevlar clutch for his E-gear Murcielago. Darin wanted to get a clutch that will last longer than his stock clutch. His stock clutch only lasted approx. 7k miles. Now he doesn't have to worry about his clutch for a long time since our Kevlar clutch will last up to 300% longer than a stock clutch.

Here are some pictures of Darin's beautiful Murcielago:

Default Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar Gallardo LP560 clutch shipped to France

We wanted to thank Laurent in France for purchasing our Gallardo LP560 Kevlar clutch. He wanted a clutch that lasts longer than a stock clutch. He also wanted a clutch that can handle going in reverse better. As you all know, E-gear has a tough time handling the reverse gear because it slips a lot. Some owners had to replace their stock clutch because they used reverse gear more than usual.

After installing our clutch, Laurent mentioned that the reverse grabs better and there is less slipping. Because it grabs better, the clutch will last longer. This is a result of using high quality kevlar material and setting it up perfectly. We do not use cheap chinese Kevlar material.

I will have him post his feedback. Laurent was nice enough to send us some pictures of his car and the installation.

You can read more feedbacks from our satisfied customers here:

Sean,

It was my pleasure! I can easily admit it was more than stressful "Clutch shopping"....do I go with stock since it's obviously proven and hope it lasts longer? Do I spend a little more and get a not as well known Kevlar clutch and hope I get double the clutch life?...do I spend even more and get a kevlar clutch that has a proven track record with a warranty?

Many late nights on the forum researching and even speaking to owners of various different brands of clutches and even the owners of a few clutch companies who were all very friendly and helpful. At the end of the day I spoke with Sean and he sold me on the warranty he provides...and the fact that he's never actually had to honor it since his clutches haven't failed yet (this is what actually hit home with me).

Service was outstanding, after speaking with Sean and agreeing what clutch to order I had a tracking number with in 48 hours. After sales support was great as well, it's comforting to know you have some support after the fact. Sean sent me torque specs, advice on the throw out upgrade as well as offering to price match and beat the price I received on the LP throw out, he contacted me during the install and break in to make sure all was going smoothly.

Install was effortless and the break in went well, initially engagement seemed smoother/positive and a lot lighter pedal feel (it's a 6 sp manual car)...breaking in a clutch in a new to you Lamborghini is a massively painful process but worth it for long clutch life...as soon as I was able to open the car up it was wide smiles for days.

Anyways, if anyone is having doubts on whether or not Sean or Hi Tech Exotic is the real deal I can assure you they are...I would put one of his clutches in my cars again no questions asked. If anyone with a gallardo in Alberta is needing a clutch or wants to check this one out just shoot me a PM and id be glad to show it off.

Here is hoping to many miles of V10 goodness and no longer worrying about eating up clutches

Hi fellow forum members,

I am reporting that I have just installed a stage 2 kevlar clutch on my 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Heffner TT bolt on, replacing a solid centre Spec clutch. The Spec clutch didn't slip at all so great for drag strip, but not daily driver friendly on take off or reversing , and I do a lot of daily driving in my lambo

I can truly say that I expected the Hi-Tech Stage 2 kevlar clutch to be a bit grabby as more heavy duty than OEM clutch, but as Sean told me it would be maybe 10% more grabby than OEM.

I can truly say that the Stage 2 Kevlar clutch changed gears better in corsa than my oem clutch in sport. I always drive around in corsa.

The lambo tech was also very impressed with how smoothly the Stage 2 Kevlar clutch drove and shifted in sport.

So I can recommend the Stage 2 kevlar clutch for bolt on TT's.

Not cheap, but 'you have to pay to play' and you can expect long life, up to 3 times oem if drive 'sensibly'.

So very pleased with the stage 2 clutch and the excellent service provided by Sean.

cheers,
john

I told them that all of our Lamborghini Kevlar clutches are a lot smoother and the shifting is perfect. It even shifts quicker at 7-8k rpm. I told them that we don't use cheap Kevlar material like our competitor. We use a very high quality Kevlar material that is used in the aerospace industry. Our competitor doesn't even modify the pressure plate.

After talking to a few of our customers, they decided to go with our Gallardo Kevlar clutch. This was for a 2008 Gallardo Spyder with E-Gear system.

Dreamcar-Workshop was very concerned about the smoothness of the clutch. He said that his customer is super picky and wants a very smooth clutch. I told him not to worry because we make all of our clutches the same way and they are all smooth.

After installing our Gallardo Kevlar clutch and adjusting the PIS for just a little bit, they drove the car around for a few miles. He could not believe how great it drives. He was so happy that he called me right away from Panama to tell me how much he loves our Kevlar clutch. He was amazed how great it drives. I asked him what does your customer think. He said he'll pick it up tomorrow.

Next day, I get a call again that his customer drove the car and the car has never felt this great. Mind you that this is a 2008 Gallardo which has a lot of refinements already. The customer told him that his Gallardo has never driven this great. The car feels like a new car. He couldn't believe that a clutch can make a car feel so great.

Dreamcar-Workshop has experienced both Kevlar clutches and they have told us that they will buy our Kevlar clutch whenever they need a clutch.

Dreamcar-Workshop is located in Panama but they have a mobile service that can service the whole South America. They have customers in many South American countries. You can contact Guillermo if you need any service in South America.

Thank you for mentioning us Sean, and for providing an outstanding replacement clutch for our customers' Countach. As you know we were skeptical of replacing the worn unit with an OEM assembly considering the cost and driveability issues the car had with the OEM assembly that had been installed. When the car was dropped off with us, the OEM clutch provided an exceptionally stiff pedal and engagement was either on or off. There was no happy medium. I could barely drive the car into our facility without stalling it. According to my customer, that was how the clutch had always felt and he was just "used" to it. I couldn't imagine owning the vehicle and trying to drive it around in that condition. A total PIA! And as we all know, the Countach is challenging enough to drive let alone the horrible clutch pedal feel. After replacement with the Kevlar unit and pressure plate, the car completely transformed into a comfortable and useable exotic. I would feel confident in stating clutch pedal pressure dropped even more than 30%. Probably closer to 50% with a very smooth engagement. Not what I was expecting with a Kevlar unit, but was very satisfied with the end result. Our customer couldn't believe the difference and ease of driving the vehice. This particular car does not get excercised much as the owner is out of the country often, but I believe that he will put more miles on the car now that it is actually driveable. This clutch has to be the best option available for the Countach and it makes it an enjoyable exotic to drive. We definitely would recommend this assembly to other Countach owners! We look forward to working with you again Sean. Hopefully we can sell some Gallardo and Murcielago jobs soon!

He was planning to install our Kevlar clutch after he installed the Twin Turbo but unfortunately the stock clutchwas worn out because of reversing in an incline. Sadly reversing can cause a lot of slipping with any E-gearclutch, stock or Kevlar.

Lamboperth has installed our Kevlar clutch and he is in the break-in phase. He has been able to put about 300 miles and he can't believe how much smoother it is that his stock clutch. He is running it in Corsa mode which some customers experience a lot of jerkiness with a stock clutch.

Lamboperth has told us that it's so much smoother with our Kevlar clutch and he doesn't experience any jerkiness when he takes off from a red light even in Corsa mode. He was surprised that such a Hi Performanceclutch can be smoother than a stock clutch and be able to hold up to 1,000 hp. I told him you can have best of both worlds with our Kevlar clutch because we set it up perfectly and we use very high quality Kevlar material same as what's used in the aerospace industry.

I will have Lamboperth post more of his feedback here.

Hi forum members here is my feedback.

I have waited till I ran in my e-gear LP 560-4 kevlar clutch on the road as per Sean's recommendations and then tracked the car at a jag club track day before posting my feedback.

It does take time to clock up 800 miles of run -in procedure in two weeks. wifey wondered why i was taking daily 80 mile drives up the coast road north every day!! i loved the entry and exit into the many roundabouts on this drive.

As reported above, i had to change out the oem clutch at 11,000 miles as I had burned out the centre of the factory installed e-gear clutch reversing up our driveway.

There was so much smoke and smell coming out of the back of the G and the engine bay, the wife came out of the house wondering what was on fire!

I was embarrased at my stupidity, to say the least, after reading all the posts on this excellent forum about "never back up inclines in an e-gear in reverse"

So ordered from sean a new Hi Tech kevlar clutch with throw out bearing and clutch position sensor, as opposed to a new OEM clutch as i am going to twin turbo the LP.

Barbagallo Lamborghini installed the clutch as the LP is still under intial 3 year factory warranty.

I followed Sean's recommended 'run in' procedure. Did not exceed 4000 rpm for 400 miles with many gearchanges up and down the range. Then did not exceed 5000rpm for next 200 miles and then increased to 6000rpm for next 200 miles.

My first observation was how smooth the clutch engages, so much so that after first 100 miles i was driving around using corsa only. The corsa mode felt like my oem sport mode with no jolting on up gear changes during the 4000 rpm running period. When increased rpm to 5000, if i flat changed, got a jolt on the up change, but if i backed off the accelerator slightly, no jolt on up change- very smooth.

Same experience when up changing at 6000 rpm. back off on the throttle slightly on the up change and no jolt.

Whenever changing down through the gears at whatever rpm with constant throttle position, change down was smooth.

When first start out with cold engine, I start in sport and then once moving it is into corsa from then on, whether on freeway or in stop/start traffic.

I then took the LP onto the local wanneroo race track at 800 miles at a jaguar club tuning and test day on 21 November 2013.-see photo.

The LP ran beautifully all day up to max track speed of 140 mph on upchanges with slightly modulated throttle and on down changes without adjusting throttle.

So i am a happy camper with the new kevlar clutch purchased from Sean and well installed by Barbagallo Lamborghini.

I have not yet installed the bolt-on Heffner twin turbo, but expect the kevlar clutch to perform as predicted by Sean.

Sean has provided excellent delivery, shipping and back up service.

I can recommend the kevlar clutch for the LP 560-4 as provided by Sean at Hi-Tech. Just remember to follow the recommended run in procedure.

Apologies for the rambling, but i do like how the kevlar clutch has turned out on effectivley my daily driver. I can also recommend the e-gear LP as a daily driver.

The kevlar clutch is everything that Sean said it would be.

cheers,
john

ps I dont back up my driveway incline or any incline any more, even with a kevlar clutch.

Hey, just wanted to say that Hi Tech is great to deal with, and I am extremely happy with the Kevlar clutch I put in my 2004 twin turbo Gallardo. Cud o's to Sean. He was VERY easy to deal with and EXTREMELY accommodating. I couldn't be happier with the product or service. Thanks Hi Tech,
Mike

Hi Guys,
So Put a Hi Tech clutch in. Sean knows his stuff so listen to him about the bearing replacement because my mechanic just reused the original one. Anyways the mechanic says he will guarantee no problems in the future. The clutch works great but have not raced it yet. I try to drive as hard as possible though. Sean is a professional so listen to his advice.

Last year with 13,000 easy mile on my 2005 Gallardo 6 speed, I replaced my stock clutch with a "rebuilt Kevlar" unit. (I used the instruction GVAN posted, BTW Great job GVAN your clutch replacement post was outstanding).
After the installation, I had tremendous chattering, I had assumed this chatter was from the increased traction between the flywheel and components due to the kevlar material. The car became so difficult to drive my wife refused to drive it.

We'll 1 year and a 1,000 miles later, while on a night out with the wife, the clutch let loose, it would not hold back the engine if you exceeded 3,000 rpms.

After reading several of the posts about the different kevlar clutch suppliers, I decided to spend a little more money, and go with the clutch from Sean at Hi Tech. It is infact new and not rebuilt.
I could not be happier, The chatter is gone, the clutch petal is smooth and the car is easy to drive again.

Thank you very much for your great comments about our Kevlar clutch.

I would like to make it clear that Dave bought a Kevlar clutch from our competitor ECT last year(not us) and ECT(Exotic Clutch Technology) Kevlar clutch lasted only 1,000 miles. It was also chattering from day one.

The reason that ECT's Kevlar clutch was chattering was because they use a very cheap Kevlar material. We on the other hand use a very high quality Kevlar material same as the ones that are used in the aerospace industry. Our Kevlar material is a lot more expensive that what ECT uses but it's worth every penny.

Another reason, that ECT's Kevlar clutch was chattering, was that the pressure plate was not set up correctly. The pressure plate was not even modified by ECT to match the new lining. They did not even change the springs.

We have been building Kevlar clutches for over 15 years and we have never had one chatter because we set up correctly and we use a very high quality Kevlar material.

Thanks,
Sean

Hi,
I have just had Lamborghini Melbourne install new Hi-Tech kevlar clutch in 2006 G. On first test drive, same feel as Amire64 on take off and reverse.
Very happy with installation. Looking forward to long life with this clutch in the G. Need to bed in the clutch as per Sean's recommendations in italics.
You need to break it in for 500 miles. Keep the throttle under 50% and keep the revs under 4K. The 500 miles should be with a lot of street driving. The more normal shifting the better. Do not feather the throttle when taking off from a dead stop.
Great service and follow up communications from Sean. Much appreciated.
cheers,
john

Default Hi Tech Exotic kevlar clutch

Hi
I had a high-tech exotic kevlar clutch installed in my 2006 Gallardo. Lamborghini were reluctant to install and provided some stern advice but I insisted and the clutch runs perfectly. Reverse is even better then OEM. Gears are flawless. John AKA Lamboperth took my car for a drive and seemed very pleased with the clutch. PM him for further feedback.
Word of caution there are a few Australian sellers trying to sell reconditioned clutches with Kevlar coating that I think Lamborghini had some trouble installing. Don’t waste your money and go for a new High Tech clutch.
Customer services from HighTech Exotics is awesome and I’m one not a person that is easily impressed.
PM me for any questions.

Hi fellow forum members,

I was given the opportunity, much appreciated, by Melbourne forum member Amir64 to drive his 2006 e-gear G last thursday to see for myself how his Kevlar clutch felt, given all the passionate 'discussion' on the forum recently about the suppliers of various kevlar clutches.

Prior to this I had already driven two other oem 2006 e-gear G's. I also have a 2006 G 6 speed manual with OEMclutch. The feel to me of the Hi Tech e-gear kevlar clutch was same as oem e-gear clutch, except a lot smoother on initial 'very slow' take off from start without the usual oem 'bucking'. Also smoother than oem on low rev reversing.

I would caution that the smoothness of the clutch as with all e-gear clutches, oem or kevlar, is highly dependent on the Lamborghini dealers service centre "clutch disk installation and the clutch setting by means of the La-Ra-AS system".

In normal speak this means the PIS (Point of Initial Slip) set up procedure when the new e-gear clutch is installed. I believe this is an iterative process, requiring the Lamborgini service technician to road test the vehicle and re adjust the PIS setting with the Lamborghini computer system as required.
No such adjustment required for manual 6 speeds.

I have seen a post on a DIY for a manual clutch replacement that was carried out successfully, but from reading the workshop manual, e-gear clutch DIY is definitely a "do not do try this at home" unless you have the $15,000 L-Ra-AS system. Use the dealer/indies who have the La-Ra-As system to install your e-gear clutch and are able to re-initalise and adjust the PIS .

Running in of the new clutch, manual or e-gear is critical to ensure long clutch life as several other posters and clutchsuppliers have advised. Much good advice has been posted in the forum. I have attached extracts from the workshop manual , although 2003 version, on initial running in of the new clutch, so more recent workshop manual updates may apply. It would appear that once the initial reset and running in of the e-gear clutch has been carried out by the installer, then it appears prudent not to exceed 4000 rpm for another 500kms.

All Lamborghini service centres I spoke to, as you would expect, recommend oem clutch replacement.

However, based on the posts by forum members that are using kevlar clutches and their driving experience, I have ordered a Hi-Tech kevlar clutch flywheel, OEM throw out bearing and clutch position sensor for my 2006 e-gear G as should provide significantly longer lasting wear than OEM and at a minimum, OEM performance/feel and as added benefit, from what I have seen so far, from limited driving, smoother operation. Lamborghini Melbourne will be installing my kevlar e-gear clutch system at my request prior to my driving the G back home to Perth from Melbourne along the coast. I like long road trips ~2,600miles.This trip should run the clutch in

I have received excellent communiction and advice from Sean as I am sure customers of other kevlar clutch suppliers have also received from their preferred supplier.

I have attached images of my new to me 2006 SE #127 e-gear G, Grigio Proteus and a very nice collection of Lambos in the Lamborghini Melbourne workshop.

My two cents worth and apologies for the ramble from a poster new to e-gear clutches and the system.
cheers,
john

*****update*****

I like to report that I finally put 30,000 miles on my Kevlar clutch from Hi Tech Exotic. This is not 30,000 miles of easy or freeway driving. I've done 8-10 track weekends at Willow spring, both short and big track. On the short track there is a lot of low gear shifting. Even with a lot of shifting, clutch never got hot and it was holding strong at 8,000 rpm. My freaking original clutch lasted only 8k miles. The stock clutch couldn't handle the beating.

Sean, thank you for your great Kevlar clutch. Your Kevlar clutch is truly the best. I am amazed that I put 30,000 miles on it and I still have 50% left. Customer forever...

Default Hi Tech Exotic Clutch

I just installed a kevlar clutch from Hi Tech Exotic, Lambo Melbourne installed it with new E-Gear cables. Runs flawlessly. Sean has excellent customer services and even called to follow up and explain the installation process.

I'll report on my experience with my Hi-Tech clutch.

I was able to get a great deal from a buddy who had one laying around.

Granted, I've only been able to put 200 miles on my clutch. I'll post more when I get more miles.

So far, smooth as silk with a very positive engagement.

I actually don't think my car has ever driven this smooth. I'm sure the freshly balanced flywheel and clutch assembly have something to do with that.

I know Sean has alot of feedback on his clutch already but I'll add mine, this clutch would come highly recommended.

Make sure you follow the break-in procedure! (No RPM's above 4000 and less than 50% throttle for 300-500 miles) The reason being giving the clutch time to seat and mate with the flywheel and pressure plate under low stress conditions.

That is the hard part!

What are you doing here?

I've installed Sean's kevlar clutch in my Diablo Roadster. The pedal is so light now, it's amazing. Greatly improves drivability.

This was the second time I've dealt with Sean and both times he has been fantastic, greatly going out of his way to accomodate all my requests.

Paul Yes I was able to find someone locally who has a 2005 Murcielago roadster. He has a stock clutch. I have a 2006 Murcielago roadster with Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar. We both don't have any other mods.

We took off with a roll start at about 15-20mph. I immediately was ahead by 1/4 of a car length. We both shifted 1st-2nd gear at 8k rpm. I was ahead another 1/2 a car and another 1/2 a car when shifted into 3rd gear. Another 1/2 a car shifting to 4th and we backed off at around 140mph. I was about 2 car lengths ahead by the time we hit 140. We did 2 more 20-140 mph and we got the same results. It looked like every shift was faster by 1/2 a car length. I always knew and felt that Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar shifted faster but I know that for sure now. Needless to say he will get a Kevlarclutch from Hi Tech when his stock clutch goes bad...

I drove the vehicle 800 miles with no improvement; very disappointing.

Had to replace the clutch ... again. You know what that means (engine-out)

Purchased kevlar clutch from Sean at Hi Tech Exotic. Parts arrived promptly and with the (new) old clutch out for comparison it was plain as day how differently-sized the parts were.

Sean gave terrific customer service and outstanding follow-up. Installed new clutch and it is smooth like the proverbial butter analogy.

Again, Sean gave regular updates on shipping, and several follow-up calls after receipt. Delighted with his service.

I highly recommend Sean and Hi Tech Exotic for parts quality, shipping proficiency, and most of-all - customer service.

Thank you Howard for a great feedback. I'm glad everything worked out great.

I like to make it clear that the first Murcielago Kevlar clutch, that Howard bought, was not bought from us. After Howard experienced problems from another vendor, he called us and we assured him that our Murcielago Kevlar clutchwill work and you won't have any problems like you had with the other vendor since we have been building Kevlar clutches for Lamborghini for over 15 years. We also told him to check with our customers and read this thread and see how happy our customers are with our Kevlar clutch.

Howard agreed with us and bought our Murcielago Kevlar clutch. After he installed our Murcielago Kevlar clutch, he couldn't believe how much smoother and better it was than a stock clutch. I'm glad that we were able to help him.

Thank you again Howard

I just replaced the clutch in my 2007 Spyder 6-spd with the Kevlar from Hi Tech Exotics. Also replaced the throw out with the LP-560 model. It all works well and feels great!

Since I have the information handy... If you use this throw out, get the following parts from the local Audi dealer (or one that has them in stock):
Three bolts , N-101-243-06
O-ring seal, N-900-396-04
O-ring seal, N-901-113-01

The flange also requires a very thin coat of anaerobic sealer. I used Permatex 51031.

Thanks to Sean. Working with him is highly recommended.

after speaking with sean he reassured us the kevlar clutch would outperform the OEM and he was right. we had experiences with another company where the cluches would not perform at all in the egear apps or F1 in ferrari. we have a 6 speed gallardo with sean's clutch and 15xxx later it is holding up great. the F1 car have 18xxx km and 65% remaining. did i mention these are rental cars.
we are adding a murcie to the fleet and the only reason we are doing so now is because Hi tech actually makes it possible without blowing up clutches in a few thousand miles.

funny story i was speaking to the Hilton owner in niagra falls which is at the top of a large hill. he lost his regular lambo customers because they kept smoking the clutch and a few had to leave on a flat bed. looks like i will be getting the best room in the house now. thx sean

Default Hi Tech Exotic kevlar Lamborghini Gallardo clutch is Outstanding

To all you guys I know there are other threads out there regarding clutch replacement on the Gallardo.
I can highly recommend Sean @ Hi Tech Exotics on his very well manufactured Kevlar clutch assembly.
The clutch replacement took about 7 days from time of order and shipped to Australia straight away.
the replacement was done in about 14 to 16 hrs all up.
The exhaust clamps giving us the most trouble as I have a UK delivered car and all clamps were corroded.
The studs had to be re drilled and new ones were put in.
The Kevlar clutch is very light and great engagement with all gears.
:

Thanks to Sean @ Hi Tech Exotics

regards
Shalin

Update on kevlar clutch bought from Sean @ Hi Tech I have done 18000 klms on my kevlar clutch and still strong.
This milage is from every day drives to work and any thing up to 6 hr cruising.I have already put the gallardo on a race track and put the clutch through its paces and no problems under harsh driving conditions.I highly recomend this Kevlar clutch to all out there. Thanks Sean once again.
